"Our goal is to simply provide today’s technology in an auditory and visual learning environment to the emergency services education curriculum."

Our Story

NextGen was founded by Nathan after realizing there was a gap in the technology used to educate children about emergency services.

Firefighters, police and 911 dispatchers across the country teach children about emergency safety. These classes instruct children on proper procedures when they are met with emergency situations… calling 911 for example. This created a few interesting problems. In today’s modern world cell phones are most likely how kids would dial 911. But the only simulators were analog phones, which most kids can’t even identify which would be used without actually dialing emergency services.

Nathan, an IT Engineer in the Cybersecurity Industry with an extensive background in consulting and developing infrastructure solutions professionally, also likes to create custom solutions for problems in his free time.

He created the system comprised of a cell phone and dispatch phone but in a controlled closed looped system capable of simulating a legitimate 911 call without disturbing local emergency services. Next, in order to take the idea even 1 step further, text-to-911 was added, along with a tablet to help with the display. Enclosed in a rugged and water-proof case the product can be taken on the go and to classes everywhere and was aptly named, 911edu+.
